Leading the FIA Junior WRC Championship after three rounds, Jürgenson is part of the FIA Rally Star talent detection initiative. While he’s highly rated, he’s also bracing himself for plenty of on-stage battles when Delfi Rally Estonia takes place from Friday to Sunday.
“Rally Estonia is a great opportunity to get back into a fast-driving rhythm before the next Junior WRC round in Finland and to drive on fast roads,” said the 24-year-old from Tartu. “It is certainly a great opportunity to measure your speed against other competitors. There are very fast competitors at the European level, who also participate in the world championship. Considering the Estonian drivers who will compete, it will be a very tough competition, and the gas must be flat out from the start to win, which I definitely aim to do.”
Jürgenson’s opposition in his pursuit of a home victory is considerable. After three rounds, Poland’s Igor Widłak (below), the 2022 ERC3 champion, heads the standings with a margin of nine points over Turkish teenager Kerem Kazaz.
Filip Kohn, a double winner in 2024, is third in the championship table followed by Croatia’s Martin Ravenščak. French ex-circuit racer Tristan Charpentier is next up after he finished second on his BAUHAUS Royal Rally of Scandinavia category debut.
No fewer than eight drivers are set to start Delfi Rally Estonia in contention for FIA ERC3 points with local aces Patrick Enok and Renault Clio Rally3-powered Joosep Ralf Nõgene – the only non-Ford Fiesta Rally3 runner on the ERC3 entry list – also in action.
Charpentier, Enok, Kazaz, Kohn, Ravenščak and Widłak are eligible for the ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy, a new-for-2024 contest from M-Sport Poland in partnership with Pirelli and Gulf Race Fuels. A separate ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy preview will be published soon.
