Prague-based Kohn lines up for the all-asphalt event from 16 - 18 August on 107 points with fellow Ford Fiesta Rally3 driver Kazaz on 103 points with three rounds remaining.
But with neither driver possessing previous experience of the demanding sealed-surface stages, the battle for ERC3 success is wide open.
“I never done these stages before,” said 21-year-old Kohn. “I live in Prague, the rally is three or four hours from my home, but I have heard the rally is really hard and something we need to do. I know it is a really famous rally, very important in the Czech Republic and a lot of fans will be there hopefully supporting us.”
Like Kazaz, Kohn is eligible for the ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy, which he can secure on his home event this weekend. A separate ERC Fiesta Rally3 Trophy preview will be published on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Croatia’s Martin Ravenščak and Pole Igor Widłak will also be in contention for ERC3 honours on Barum Czech Rally Zlín. While Ravenščak is a Zlín novice, Widłak is the 2022 ERC3 champion and made a winning return to the category in Zlín 12 months ago.
Hubert Kowalczyk, who makes his Barum Czech Rally Zlín debut fresh from class success on the Polish championship MARMA Rajd Rzeszowski last weekend, is preparing to start second ERC3 event following his impressive podium on Rally di Roma Capitale last month. The 20-year-old from Poland pilots a Renault Clio Rally3, the car of choice for 19-year-old Bulgarian Aleksandar Tomov, another Zlín rookie.
Slovakian Róbert Kolčák completes the ERC3 entry. Coached by ERC star Erik Cais and driving the Ford Fiesta Rally3 used by Jan Černý in the FIA WRC3 Championship earlier this year, Kolčák is preparing to make his European championship debut in only his second season of rallying.
