Mabellini (above), who scored his breakthrough ERC podium on last month’s JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion, and Tempestini, the winner of the season-opening V-Híd Rally Hungary, were on testing duty in Poland yesterday. They both reported a successful day of running in their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2s.
“We had a good test,” Italian Mabellini said. “Especially in the afternoon when the conditions dried out, we were able to try solutions closer to those we expect to find in the race. It's a very fast race, super-technical, but we will give our best.”
Multiple Romanian champion Tempestini, who is preparing to make his second ERC start with Team MRF Tyres following his impressive debut with the squad on the last round in Wales, said: “It’s nice to be back behind the wheel of the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2. It’s my first time driving this car on MRF Tyres, but we start with a great deal of experience from the Rali Ceredigion. The test was positive, we gathered a lot of data and are looking forward.”
Fully recovered from their accident on Barum Czech Rally Zlín, Amaury Molle and co-driver Alex Dubois are set for the third ERC start in their Team MRF Tyres-entered Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo.
“I am very happy to be back,” said Belgian Molle. “I will need to quickly regain the edge to be competitive. The race seems particularly fast, so the details will make the difference, as there will be very little room for error.”
Meirion Evans completes the Team MRF Tyres line-up in Poland, his first outing using the Indian manufacturer’s championship-winning covers. The Briton will pilot a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.
