Results secondary to experience, says ERC’s Molle

The Belgian dropped from 16th to 22nd on the Rally Silesia Power Stage after going off the road and dropping more than four minutes.  

But after reaching the finish of the season finale, the Team MRF Tyres’ driver was more than satisfied having fought back from injuries sustained in a crash on Barum Czech Rally Zlín in August to take part.  

“I got cracked ribs, a dislocation and some problems with the back so I had to slow down for a couple of weeks,” the 29-year-old Molle said. “I wanted to go to Wales [for JDS Machinery Rali Ceredigion] but it was impossible. Anyway, I got good support from MRF and my team because it wasn’t easy to accept but it was like this.”

Of his Rally Silesia outing at the wheel of his rebuilt Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo, Molle said: “The most important thing was to get the whole mileage of the rally, the result was not important. What was important was the experience and during the winter we will work to improve the pace for next year and come back stronger.”  

He continued: “The target since the beginning was to do the partial championship this year and then we try to do the whole season next year. That’s on the table right now and we try to confirm this as soon as we can.”
