It’s 66 of the best for ERC Greatest Car semi-finals

The ERC Greatest Car semi-final draw has been set with a top-quality quartet chasing the two places in the final later this month when fans will decide the best car of the FIA European Rally Championship’s modern era.

Sharing a combined 66 ERC event wins, the Peugeot 207 Super 2000, Renault Clio Super 1600, Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo and Škoda Fabia Super 2000 have enjoyed formidable success at European level. They are now in contention for the prestigious ERC Greatest Car accolade.  


Monday’s first semi-final is a Super 2000 battle of the highest order as Peugeot’s 207 goes up against Škoda’s Fabia. The Peugeot 207 S2000 qualified for the ERC Greatest Car semi-final stage by beating the Abarth Grande Punto with 62% of the public vote. The Škoda Fabia S2000 progressed to the semi-final stage after it defeated the Ford Fiesta R5 with 68% of the public vote.  


Semi-final two begins on Wednesday and is between the Renault Clio S1600 and Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo. The Clio S1600 came through a tight quarter-final contest against the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, landing 54% of the vote, while the Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo earned a commanding 89% of the vote to knock out the Peugeot 208 Rally4 in the fourth quarter-final yesterday (Thursday). Voting for the ERC Greatest Car final begins on 2 December.

ERC Greatest Car of the modern era explained
It’s not just the drivers who have starred since the FIA European Rally Championship calendar was streamlined into the format recognisable today.  


Following that landmark moment in 2004, some of the greatest rally cars ever built have battled for glory in the various categories that continue to ensure the ERC remains as popular as it is relevant.  


Fans have been able to vote from a shortlist of 16 great ERC cars prepared by our team of experts. Employing bracketology, voting is available through the ERC’s social media channels with a 24-hour window to vote for each pairing. The winner will be announced on 4 December.
