New experiences in store for Junior ERC stars

The 2025 FIA Junior ERC Championship intake will build their experience on six events, including two rallies new to the young driver category and three that didn’t feature in 2024.

With knowledge gaining once again the key focus, Junior ERC promoter WRC Promoter GmbH has prepared a significantly altered fixture list with four rounds taking place on asphalt and two on gravel.

It has added 42nd Rally Sierra Morena - Córdoba Patrimonio de la Humanida in Spain and Croatia Rally to open and close the 12th Junior ERC season on Tarmac.

And in further changes to the schedule followed in 2024, the asphalt-only Rally di Roma Capitale and Barum Czech Rally Zlín return under the Junior ERC calendar rotation policy having not hosted the Hankook-supplied championship since 2023.

Rally di Roma Capitale had been ever-present on the Junior ERC calendar prior to this year, while apart from 2024, Barum Czech Rally Zlín only missed out once previously when the event didn’t run in 2020 due to the global health pandemic.

With the event back on the FIA European Rally Championship calendar after it staged a round of the FIA World Rally Championship in 2024, Rally Poland also forms part of the 2025 Junior ERC schedule. The 81st edition marks the second of two all-gravel rounds following on from V-Híd Rally Hungary.

Drivers in Junior ERC, which is for Rally4 and Rally5 cars equipped with Hankook tyres, count their five best scores from six rounds. Championship rules also stipulate that they must be 27 and under on 1 January 2025.

Iain Campbell, the ERC championship manager, said: “It’s vital that Junior ERC drivers gain as much knowledge and experience as possible and refreshing the calendar each season is a big part of that objective. By carrying over one event only from 2024, we’ve been successful in providing a schedule that offers the opportunity to learn five new events, while also providing a level playing field for drivers new to the championship.”

The 2025 FIA Junior ERC Championship calendar, approved by a recent FIA World Motor Sport electronic vote, is as follows:

42nd Rally Sierra Morena - Córdoba Patrimonio de la Humanidad, Spain, 4 - 6 April (asphalt)
V-Híd Rally Hungary, 9 - 11 May (gravel)
81st Rally Poland, 13 - 15 June (gravel)
Rally di Roma Capitale, Italy, 4 - 6 July (asphalt)
Barum Czech Rally Zlín, 15 - 17 August (asphalt)
Croatia Rally, 3- 5 October (asphalt)
