Stage set for ERC Greatest Car final

Next week’s ERC Greatest Car final will be a Super 1600 versus Super 2000 battle for supremacy when voting to decide the FIA European Rally Championship’s best of the best from the modern era takes place.

Fans will have an extended 96 hours from 2-5 December to choose between two hugely significant cars from the last 20 years of the ERC, the Renault Clio S1600 and Škoda Fabia S2000.

It follows this week’s semi-finals, which ended in defeat for the Peugeot 207 S2000 and Škoda Fabia Rally2 Evo but glory for Renault’s hasty hatchback and Škoda’s fast Fabia.

Voting couldn’t have been closer with the Fabia S2000 pooling 54% of the public vote against the 207 S2000, while the Clio made it through to the final after it knocked out the Fabia Rally2 Evo with 57% of the fan votes.

From next week, FIAERC.com will be highlighting the achievements of the two finalists and revealing the impact they continue to have to this day. But first, here are the key numbers and remember to follow the ERC’s social media channels to vote.

ERC Greatest Car of the modern era explained
It’s not just the drivers who have starred since the FIA European Rally Championship calendar was streamlined into the format recognisable today.

Following that landmark moment in 2004, some of the greatest rally cars ever built have battled for glory in the various categories that continue to ensure the ERC remains as popular as it is relevant.

Fans have been able to vote from a shortlist of 16 great ERC cars prepared by our team of experts. Employing bracketology, voting was available through the ERC’s social media channels with a 24-hour window to vote for each pairing.

For the ERC Greatest Car final, voting will open on 2 December and close on 5 December with the winner announced on 6 December.
