Given the seal of approval by the FIA World Motor Sport Council during its gathering in Kigali, Rwanda, yesterday (Wednesday), the FIA Master ERC Championship is for drivers aged over 50 on 1 January of the year of competition. Potential competitors must also be registered with the FIA for the ERC and must not appear on the list of FIA Priority Drivers.
Master ERC Championship drivers will count their best seven scores from a possible eight. The 42nd Rally Sierra Morena - Córdoba Patrimonio de la Humanidad in Spain is due to host the first Master ERC round from 4 - 6 April.
Iain Campbell, the ERC championship manager, said: “The ERC prides itself on being open to allcomers regardless of age and experience. The FIA Master ERC Championship is therefore a great initiative and an opportunity for drivers over 50 at the start of the season to chase their own separate points classification and title. Based on our registered drivers from the 2024 season, more than 10 would be eligible for Master ERC according to their ages, which means there should be plenty of interest in this new category.”
Flat out at 50+
