Hyundai takes a Step2 in ERC

Hyundai Motorsport has unveiled the i20 N Rally2 Step2 as it bids for more success in the FIA European Rally Championship.

Having powered Hayden Paddon to back-to-back titles with its i20 N Rally2, Hyundai Motorsport has stated the car “will be improved further for the 2025 season” after it utilised seven homologation jokers.

A communication from Hyundai Motorsport stated: “The i20 N Rally2 Step2 takes advantage of seven jokers available for the development of the car, allowing the largest single package of upgrades for the i20 N Rally2 since its launch.

“Featuring revised front and rear kinematics, new gearbox ratios engineered to complement the updated engine software and new differential ramp options, the latest parts will be homologated in early 2025, with the first i20 N Rally2 Step2 delivered to customers soon after and a kit made available for existing customers to update their cars”.

European and world championship event winner Kris Meeke, who secured his second Portuguese championship driving a Hyundai i20 N Rally2 this season, drove a i20 N Rally2 Step2 as a course car on last month’s Rallye du Var in France, the car’s public debut.

The 2025 ERC season begins with the 42nd Rally Sierra Morena - Córdoba Patrimonio de la Humanidad, Spain from 4 - 6 April.
