Schrott “excited” for Junior ERC first-timer Pröglhöf

Opel Motorsport boss Jörg Schrott says he’s “excited” to follow Luca Pröglhöf’s progress in the 2025 FIA Junior ERC Championship, which the Austrian driver is contesting for the first time as his prize for winning the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup in 2024.

Pröglhöf is preparing to follow in the wheel tracks of Laurent Pellier, Timo Schulz and Calle Carlberg (pictured below), who also won the all-electric series before stepping up to Junior ERC with the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team as their reward.

The 25-year-old is considered a “promising talent” by Schrott after he beat Frenchman Anthony Rott to the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup powered by GSe title in 2024 alongside his German co-driver Christina Ettel.

“I'm excited to see how Luca and Dina will do in the fight against the best youngsters in Europe,” said Schrott. “We are looking forward to the coming rally season, which will once again bring many challenges for Opel, but hopefully also successes.”

Pröglhöf, who is from Sittendorf near Vienna, claimed four wins on his way to clinching the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup title at this second attempt, a performance that made him the champion ahead of the season-deciding Central European Rally last October.

After claiming the title on Rallye Coeur de France, Pröglhöf said: “It was one of the most challenging rallies I have ever driven, because minimising risk was our top priority. Our plan worked perfectly, we drove cleanly, didn’t make any mistakes and didn’t have any problems. Now we are overjoyed and a bit speechless. It’s awesome that we’ve already clinched the title. We’re going to have a big party.”

Five Junior ERC titles have been claimed by ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team drivers since the series began in 2014. They are Emil Bergkvist (2015), Marijan Griebel (2016), Chris Ingram (2017), Mārtiņš Sesks (2018) and Laurent Pellier (2022).

The 2025 ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup powered by GSe begins with ADAC Rallye Sulingen in Germany from 25 - 26 April. Meanwhile, the 42nd running of Rally Sierra Morena - Córdoba Patrimonio de la Humanidad in Andalusia, Spain, hosts the Junior ERC season opener from 4 - 6 April. Hankook continues as the championship’s exclusive tyre supplier for the third season.
